Richard E Grant took to Twitter to remember his late wife Joan Washington in a heartbreaking clip. The award-winning actor, 65, told how he traveled to their cottage in the Cotswolds where Joan spent the last months of her life before losing her battle with lung cancer last year.

In view of his 306,000 followers, the actor of Persuasion told how he had visited his cottage which held a very special place in his heart.

Sitting in his garden, Richard told his fans: “Unexpected day off from filming and dashed through the Cotswolds to the cottage my wife and I spent the last months of his life in.

“Now it’s obviously emotional to be here, it’s incredibly calm and restorative surrounded by all the things we’ve planted together and gone crazy in this glorious summer.

“Grateful for the 38 years we’ve had together,” he smiled at the camera.

He took to Twitter to share a video talking to the camera while wearing a summer outfit consisting of a shirt and hat.

Richard captioned the video: “Bittersweet solo throwback to a vacation restaurant that we frequented together for three decades.

“Irresistible nostalgia and simultaneous heartbreak. It’s Friday! The weather is beautiful !! Life is meant to be lived!!!”

In the video, an emotional Richard pointed out that despite his “new reality” he was “full of happiness”.
