Kim Utter offers a variety of services at Country Cottage Massage and Wellness in downtown Madras
Massage Therapist Kim Utter loves every aspect of her new business, but particularly enjoys helping people feel better.
“It’s very gratifying and gratifying for me to be able to be a part of someone’s healing journey,” said Utter, who opened Country Cottage Massage and Wellness on D Street in Madras on May 15.
She offers a wide range of massage services, from Swedish and relaxation to maternity and prenatal massage, chronic pain management and sessions for old and new injuries. Additional services include aromatherapy, Himalayan hot stones and CBD oil. It offers sessions of 30, 60 and 90 minutes.
Utter doesn’t necessarily specialize in one specific thing.
“Going through massage school, I liked everything. I’m very good at deep tissue, but I can also appreciate the relaxation aspect of things, so I’m also excellent at that,” she said. declared.
Utter grew up in Hillsboro and moved to Madras in 2012 after getting married. She and her husband, Eric, have three children. She received her massage training in Bend at the Sage School of Massage and Esthetics and graduated in 2017. For three and a half years she worked as a massage therapist for Shibui Spa at FivePine Lodge and Spa in Sisters.
“I’ve always had the motivation and the idea to open my own business,” Utter said, but she wanted to gain some massage experience before going on her own.
When choosing a name for her new massage business, she wanted to go back to her roots. She grew up on a farm in Hillsboro and her parents own a farm in La Grande. Her husband grew up on a farm in Silverton and the two now operate a farm locally.
And, Utter loves flowers and wanted something country.
“I love flowers and I love the cottages on the beach, the cottages in the woods.” Everything is fine, she said of the name Country Cottage Massage and Wellness.
She says massage can help a variety of medical conditions and injuries.
“Massage is something that has proven to be a very holistic and natural way of medicine,” Utter said.
She said massage can help with sports injuries and car crashes and chronic pain management. Patients with scoliosis have found that massage helps alleviate some of their pain and discomfort. Massage has also been used to decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Utter is open six days a week by appointment and encourages people to visit his company’s Facebook page for a full list of his services.
“I love being a part of this wonderful city and being able to serve such an amazing community by sharing my talents,” said Utter.
