Kelly Clarkson Says She Got Tricked Recording ‘You’re Drunk, Go Home’ With Kelsea Ballerini and Carly Pearce

Kelsea Ballerini just released their fourth career studio album titled, Subject to change, and one of the standout tracks is called “You’re Drunk, Go Home.”

Featuring another country star Carly Pearceand someone who I think needs to release a retro 90s country album, Kelly Clarkson, it’s a nice, fun country song about arresting drunken drunks at the bar.

And fun fact about the recording of the song… Kelly was drunk in the cabin.

Kelsea confessed that she asked Kelly to come sing on this song, and Kelly showed up at the studio that night.

Except there was a little problem…well, not really a problem, but…Kelly had been drinking.

“I can’t really tell this whole story on TV, but it’s kind of funny…that taping day for me.

“So you know what? I’ll give you some. It’s my last day of work. I told Trisha, my assistant in my group, that I can’t do anything.

I literally said, ‘look, it must be that day, so I’m leaving.’ I was like, ‘I promised myself this summer.’ And not only are you texting me but Shane McAnally, our friend who is also a singer-songwriter.

They’re both like, ‘Oh, we have this song.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, I love Kelsea. OK. Just let me listen to it. And I was like, ‘Oh, I have to do this.’

Except that Kelly had already started to “celebrate” her absence for the summer…

“I had already celebrated that it was my last day of work. So I come to the studio here in this studio. With Jason, and I go in there and I’m like, ‘Look, I didn’t know I was going to sing today.’

So I had to sing a song called “You’re Drunk, Go Home” while drunk, trying to sing for soprano parts… like I was okay. Like there’s a real full track we have to send you of me just crying and laughing so hard I almost peed my pants.

And while you can imagine TONS of artists over the years have written, recorded and performed while drunk, Kelly Clarkson isn’t really the one that comes to mind.

But it turns out there’s a first time for everything.

“That’s never happened to me in 20 years. I’ve never been drunk singing anything. And I’m…while singing ‘You’re Drunk, Go Home.’ »

It just seems logical to me…
